The Upstate Alliance of REALTORS® (UPSTAR) has named Beth Walker, Fairfield Group REALTORS®, its 2020 REALTOR® of the Year.
The REALTOR® of the Year is selected by the recipient’s peers and is UPSTAR’s top award, recognizing outstanding volunteer contributions on behalf of the association, the real estate industry and the community. It is given to a Realtor member who exemplifies the highest level of professional conduct in serving the needs of the public.
Walker is a past president of UPSTAR and UPSTAR MLS and serves on numerous association committees. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the ARCH Historic Preservation Organization and actively participates on boards with her church.

The REALTOR® of the Year honor was just one of several service awards presented during UPSTAR’s virtual General Membership meeting in December. Additional awards included:
- Hall of Fame Award—Craig Martin, North Eastern Group Realty.
The Hall of Fame Award is given for exceptional and outstanding service to the community and the real estate profession over a lifetime. Martin has served and supported the RPAC Committee, Government Affairs, and Arbitration Committees during his 40-year tenure. He also actively participates in the United Way and the Fort Wayne History Center. - Affiliate of the Year— Renee Hiner, Diamond Residential Mortgage.
Hiner received this award for her exceptional service and support of UPSTAR’s charitable outreach events. - Outstanding Service Award— Jeff Vaughan, Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group.
Vaughan received this award for his volunteerism and commitment to UPSTAR initiatives and programs, including Code of Ethics instructor, REALTORS® Political Action Committee, Professional Standards and Arbitration Committees and Community Outreach with Neighbor Link. - President’s Award—Beth Walker, Fairfield Group REALTORS®.
This award was given to Walker by the 2020 UPSTAR President Renee Cox for her assistance and support of Cox during her term as president. - Special Projects Award—Kim Ruffin, UPSTAR Communications Director.
This award was given to Ruffin for oversight of a major association event and management of the organization during the Executive Officer search. - Community Service Award—Linda Duesler, Duesler Realty House.
This award was given to Duesler for creating masks for local REALTORS® and Affiliates and assisting in UPSTAR’s mask giveaway.
