An investment in your career that will appreciate every year
A Three-Way Membership
When you become an UPSTAR member, you’re not just joining a community of fellow real estate professionals in our area — you also become a member of the Indiana Association of REALTORS® (IAR), representing over 19,000 members statewide, and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the world’s largest professional association with over 1.1 million members in the US.
This partnership not only benefits members by providing access to three times more professional development, research, and networking resources; it also benefits the public as the organizations work together to advocate for free enterprise and property rights.
Member Benefits
Training & Networking
Professional Development
Our approved continuing education classes help you meet Indiana’s annual CE requirements, and we also offer special seminars and Lunch n’ Learn presentations to help you develop professionally, many of which are free to members.
Technology Training
Master your business tools with classes on the Paragon MLS system, ZipForm, CRS Tax Suite, and the Realtor’s Property Resource (RPR) system — all FREE to members. We also host occasional conferences on the latest technology trends.
Networking & Affiliate Member Services
We provide many opportunities throughout the year to network with affiliate members so you can collaborate with them in the buying and selling process and confidently refer them to your clients.
Outreach & Advocacy
Consumer Outreach Opportunities
Investing in your community contributes to its health and vitality and also raises consumer awareness of the value of REALTORs®. That’s why UPSTAR provides opportunities for members to engage with the community on housing issues, economic development initiatives, and charitable outreach programs like our Day of Caring.
Advocacy
The unintended consequences of poor legislation can be harmful to buyers and sellers, homeowners, and the real estate industry. When a proposed regulation is introduced locally, you can be sure that UPSTAR’s full-time Government Affairs Director is there to fight for homeowner rights and to offer the REALTOR® point of view on issues that impact local housing.
MLS Access
Regional MLS Access
Your UPSTAR membership gives you access to the Indiana Regional MLS, with property listings from primarily 43 Indiana counties. IRMLS subscribers also enjoy add-on MLS features that enhance your marketing, listing presentations, showings and transactions. These include Property Panorama virtual tours, ListingDIV data checker, Showing Assist, Cloud CMA, CRS Tax Suite, and RPR.
Full-Time MLS Support
UPSTAR employs a full-time MLS Director. When you need MLS help, we’re available onsite 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday-Friday.
Support
Professional Staff
When you call UPSTAR during business hours, you will reach a live person who can answer your question or direct you appropriately. Our team is ready to assist you!
Risk Management Information
Whether it’s a compliance issue or your personal safety, we keep you informed about issues that may put you at risk through UPSTAR’s weekly eBulletin.
Professional Standards
UPSTAR members are part of a state-wide professional standards process to handle disagreements that is far less expensive than litigation — from mandatory mediation to arbitration if needed. The program is administered through the Indiana Association of REALTORS®.
How to Become a Member
We’re excited that you’re taking the step to become a member, and we look forward to showing you the power of an UPSTAR membership. Here’s what you can expect from the process after you’ve passed the real estate licensing exam and affiliated with a broker.
1. Submit an application with the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) to obtain your Real Estate Broker’s License.
The online application is available on the IPLA website. Once approved, your license will show “active” on their website. This step is necessary before UPSTAR can start the REALTOR® application process or accept any payments. The IPLA will notify you of your “active” status by email.
NOTE: The IPLA no longer mails out a physical license (pocket card) to new licensees. You may print one from the IPLA website to carry with you if you like.
2. Complete the REALTOR® Application Packet for UPSTAR and pay your association dues & MLS fees.
The packet includes the Application, the Social Media Policy, and a Lockbox Agreement. All three must be signed by you, and the Lockbox Agreement must also be signed by your Managing Broker. Dues payment should be submitted with your completed application. The dues for your REALTOR® association membership are different from your MLS fees, and the two are billed separately. You may pay both with one credit card, but they will appear as two separate transactions.
New REALTOR® offices applying for access to the MLS (not those joining an established member’s office) will incur a one-time participant application fee of $400, plus a $75 admin fee. UPSTAR dues and MLS fees are prorated quarterly.
NOTE: Your application may take up to 48 hours to process, after which we will generate your MLS access codes and email them to you.
3. Set up your SentriKey account to access the electronic lockbox system and download the mobile app.
Within one business day of application approval and payment, UPSTAR will email a link to set up an account for the SentriLock Electronic Lockbox system. After your account is set up, we recommend downloading the SentriKey app for convenient access to the lockbox system.
4. Register for New Member Orientation within 90 days and schedule Technology Training.
New Member Orientation includes the Code of Ethics, which is required for membership. UPSTAR typically offers New Member Orientation four times a year and will notify you of the upcoming classes once your membership application has been approved and processed. We also recommend that you immediately sign up to take Paragon1, Paragon2, and ZipForm training classes.

Completed forms that cannot be submitted online may be emailed to Membership@UpstarIndiana.com or delivered to the UPSTAR office at 3403 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.

All Participants must be REALTOR® members of UPSTAR or members in good standing with another REALTOR® Association. Participant applicants must provide a list of licensed individuals who are directly or indirectly affiliated with the applicant on the enclosed Subscriber Information sheet. Life Members are not required to pay local Association dues and reserve all other privileges of membership.

Every REALTOR® and Affiliate member must sign UPSTAR’s Social Media Policy as a condition of membership. The Social Media Resource Guide is also included in the link. The Guide provides context to the policy and outlines best practices for social media use in the promotion of listings.
Add or Remove Secretary / Assistant Form
Managing Brokers should complete this form to request MLS access for a new secretary or personal assistant. This form should also be used to remove MLS access for a secretary or personal assistant who has left the firm.
Affiliate Authorized Access Agreement
Every agent who wishes to gain access to the electronic lockbox system is required to complete an Affiliate Authorized Access Agreement signed by the Managing Broker and the agent. If an agent transfers to a different firm, a new Affiliate Authorized Access Agreement is required.
Affiliate Lockbox Agreement
Affiliate members of UPSTAR who are also licensed inspectors or appraisers may apply to access MLS listings for the purpose of home inspections or appraisals. The qualified affiliate must complete and sign the required Affiliate Lockbox Agreement to obtain access.
