FORT WAYNE, Ind. (May 8, 2026)—The northeastern Indiana housing market continued to show steady momentum in April 2026, with increases in pending sales, closed sales, home prices, and new listings, according to the latest market data released by the Upstate Alliance of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service Inc. (UPSTAR MLS).

April 2026 Housing Market Highlights:

  • New Listings: 905 (+1%)
  • Pending Sales: 722 (+7%)
  • Closed Sales: 660 (+13%)
  • Median Sales Price: $265,000 (+8%)

“The April numbers reflect a healthy and active spring market,” said Sue Teasdale, President of UPSTAR MLS. “We’re seeing buyers continue to move forward despite higher mortgage rates, while sellers are benefiting from stable demand and rising home values across northeastern Indiana.”

The 13% increase in closed sales was one of the strongest year-over-year gains seen in recent months and suggests many buyers are adapting to current financing conditions. Pending sales also rose 7%, pointing to continued activity heading into the summer market.

Mortgage rates remained in the low-to-mid-6% range through much of April and stayed slightly below where they were one year ago, helping improve buyer confidence. Northeast Indiana’s economy also continues to benefit from stable employment in healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, and professional services.

One positive analytic from April’s report is that buyer activity increased faster than new listings, indicating that well-priced homes continue to attract strong interest and move quickly in many parts of the market.
