Buyer and Seller Disputes

If a dispute arises (usually over earnest money or lack of disclosure) between Buyers and Sellers, Upstate Alliance of REALTORS® (UPSTAR) partners with the Better Business Bureau® (BBB) in assisting resolution of disputes. The BBB has a national reputation for fairness because they remain neutral in a dispute. The BBB provides a professionally trained Mediator who will listen to both sides, weigh the evidence and make a decision about the dispute. The BBB can hear disputes up to $3,500, and the request for mediation must be filed within one year of the transaction on which the dispute is based. This time limitation may be waived by consent of all parties.
