UPSTAR MLS Releases January Housing Market Report

Today, the Upstate Alliance of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service (UPSTAR MLS) released its January 2018 local housing market report. Comparing last month’s figures to the same timeframe in 2017, the leading market indicators are as follows:

  • New Listings decreased 13.0 percent to 568.
  • Pending Sales were down 13.8 percent to 469.
  • Closed Sales decreased 7.8 percent to 353.
  • Inventory levels shrank 21.6 percent to 1,207 units.
  • The Median Sales Price increased 7.2 percent to $131,450.
  • Percent of Original List Price Received increased 2.3 percent to 95.3.

“Buyers are waiting a little longer for the right opportunity because of the tightening supply of available homes,” said Kim Ward, 2018 UPSTAR MLS President. “But the good news is that buyer demand is still strong, which is an important indicator for a healthy housing market. With the increase in prices; however, this is the opportune time for sellers.”

The data from the January 2018 Monthly Indicators report tells consumers how the northeastern Indiana housing market is performing according to nine different indicators with comparisons to 2016 and 2017.
